Mileek McMIllan won Mr Defense at Indiana’s Top 80

There was so much talent in the gym, with 80 of the best players Indiana had to offer. The Indiana Top 80 was a great chance for some under the radar players to show they can play. There were Top 100 type players participating, guys who are already committed to high major programs, and countless Division 1 prospects.

It was a great day, a new batch of kids got seen and will have their recruitment boost from this event. That is what matters

Here are the camp’s award winners.

Mr Top 80
6’5” 2018 Jarron Coleman
Cathedral HS (Indianapolis)

It was a great day for Coleman, not only that but it was a consistent day for him. He shot the ball at a high clip, showed great pace on the ball, and defended and rebounded well. Coleman only carries offers from IUPUI and Ball State – expect that to soar.

Mr Playmaker
6’1 2017 Mateo Rivera
North Central HS (Indianapolis)

Rivera is a consummate lead guard. He did everything on the court, from locking down with stifling on ball defense, to rebounding his position, to making shots at 3-levels, and making his team better. Rivera makes winning plays. D1 schools need to get on this one now, he wins ball games.

Mr Hustle
5’10 2020 Michael Saunders Jr
Lawrence North HS (Indianapolis)

Saunders was a jitterbug all over the court. He shot the ball well, defended the ball well, and did a great job of setting up his team mates. Despite being one of the younger players in camp, he stepped on the court and was a natural leader. Already, Saunders carries offers from Cornell and IUPUI.

Mr Defense
6’8” 2017 Mileek McMillan
Merriville HS (Merriville)

What a difference a year makes. McMillan showed so much comfort in who he is. He was a mismatch on offense. McMillan had touch out to 18 feet and the ability to handle and get to the rim. He also showed ability on the block, with footwork, touch, and a couple go-to moves. Defensively he had a great motor with length, great timing, and a quick jump. Expect a major boost in this young man’s recruitment.

Mr Station
6’6” 2019 Mason Gillis
New Castle HS (New Castle)

Gillis is about as fundamentally sound as they come. He is a walking mismatch on the floor, using his footwork and his 6’10” wing span to get where he wanted 15 feet and in. Gillis rebounded at a high clip and worked hard from the start to the finish of camp. He is a tweener, but he absolutely produces in a winning capacity.
