The past weekend, Phenom Hoops hosted our annual Team Camp in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Between the individual talent, collection of teams, and overall competition, there were a lot of meaningful takeaways. College coaches were in attendance from start to finish, and several players made lasting impressions with their play. Hunter Huss was easily one of the most surprising teams in attendance. Let’s take a closer look at their trio of college-level guards…

5’11 ’26 Zamarius Gladden

In many ways, Gladden stands out as a leader for this group. His IQ, physicality, and toughness translates to both ends of the floor, where he consistently shines as a tone-setter. Gladden is a balanced floor general who aggressively touches the paint and makes plays for himself and others. He can score the ball from all levels but is at his best as a penetrating threat. Gladden is a rugged defender who communicates, mirrors opposing guards, and forces turnovers at a strong rate. He also rebounds very well for his size/position.

5’10 ’25 Satchelle Pettis

Although each of these guys can toggle between roles, Pettis is quite clearly the top marksman of the group. He’s slightly undersized but quick, scrappy, and shoots the ball at an extremely high clip. Pettis is a reliable spot-up threat with the ability to attack closeouts or hit jumpers off the bounce. He sees the floor well as a passer and is willing to make the extra pass when necessary. Pettis is an active defender who simply knows how to play to his strengths.

5’11 ’27 Zaiyir Phillips

Despite being the youngest guy listed, Phillips is already quite clearly a focal point for this squad. Coming off a freshman season where he led the team in three major statistical categories, his production should only continue to grow. He’s a smart, well-rounded guard who shows a consistent willingness to adapt his approach whenever necessary. Phillips handles the ball with care, sets up others, and scores the ball in a variety of different ways. He’s a reliable defender and capable rebounder. Given everything he showed over the weekend, Phillips looks poised to continue trending upward.
