In two weekends, Phenom Hoops will officially begin our annual Hoopstate Fall League. Previously, games were hosted at Cox Mill and JD Lewis Center, but Rise Indoor Sports will also be added to the mix this year. Between three separate venues, kids from several different areas will have the opportunity to compete with other notable programs as they prepare for the upcoming high school season. Leading up to the preseason contests, we will preview some of the teams registered to attend—looking at Gaston Christian.
Despite just falling short last season, there should still be a lot of optimism surrounding this group. Although they’ve retained multiple focal points, losing Gabriel Mabor and Joe Rhyne will be difficult to overcome. Fortunately, this roster already has a slew of young, blossoming pieces who appear ready to take on bigger roles. They might not be adding a ton of guys, but they should have enough talent currently within the program to succeed. Expect Coach Duhon to continue making noise in his second season at the helm.
