In one weekend, Phenom Hoops will officially begin our annual Hoopstate Fall League. Previously, games were hosted at Cox Mill and JD Lewis Center, but Rise Indoor Sports will also be added to the mix this year. Between three separate venues, kids from several different areas will have the opportunity to compete against other notable programs as they prepare for the upcoming high school season. Leading up to the preseason contests, we will preview some of the teams registered to attend—looking at Carson High School.
Last season marked the start of a new era for Coach Brian Perry and the Cougars. Their freshman trio stepped on campus and immediately raised the ceiling of this team—going 15-10 and subsequently pushing Carson to their most wins since 2017-18. When he has talent within his roster, Coach Perry has proven more than capable of competing against anyone in the state. That being said, this is arguably his most talented group over the last decade. Not only do they have the aforementioned young core, but also multiple veterans and key role players. These guys simply know how to succeed together, as evidenced by their phenomenal chemistry on the court. It’s difficult to envision a scenario where the Cougars don’t continue to trend upward and contend for state championships over the coming years.
