The fourth game to conclude round one of our Hoopstate Championship bracket took place between Word of God and Liberty Heights Varsity. In all honesty, this contest was as highly anticipated as any matchup from the opening day. As expected, things kicked off in an extremely competitive, back-and-forth fashion. After an intense eight minutes with multiple lead changes, both sides were tied at 16-16. The Holy Rams came into the second quarter clicking on all cylinders, mounted a quality run, and entered halftime with a 38-27 advantage. Following the break, the evenly matched battle continued. Neither team backed down, and Word of God maintained their lead at 53-44 through three quarters. That being said, Liberty Heights Varsity continued to fight and chip away at the deficit through the final period of play. After tying the game at 59-59, Liberty Heights and Word of God traded the lead over the closing minutes. Regulation ended at 77-77. It ultimately came down to the wire in overtime, as Liberty Heights Varsity secured a 88-86 victory over Word of God.
