The last day of the Phenom Holiday Classic kicked off on Wednesday, as Concord Academy and Franklin Prep National took the court in Rock Hill. It was a tight battle with neither tame creating much space and just when one you think one team was about to make a run, the other had an answer. Franklin Prep did well out in transition and getting easy buckets at the rim, while it was the guard play for Concord Academy that found their offense. By halftime, Franklin Prep had the narrow one-point lead, 32-31.

Second half though, Concord Academy started to put their foot down on the gas, knock down shots and play strong on both ends.  It helped them turn what was a one-point deficit at half to a double-digit lead by the end of the third. Once Concord got the double-digit lead, it stayed like that throughout the fourth, ultimately winning 69-58.

Stats:
Concord:
Trae Benham 18 points
Javian Cannady 16 points
Logan Threatt 16 points

Franklin Prep:
Davante Gonzales 13 points
Shamarrie Hugie 11 points

Standouts:

2021 Javian Cannady (Concord Academy): What I really liked about Cannady is that he can be a jack of all trades on the court, simply one that can do a little bit of everything. What the coaching staff needs him to do, he can provide whether it is a ball-handler, someone who can defend multiple players, and one that can step up scoring when called upon. He did all of that in this game. He also has underrated speed to get by his defenders.

2023 Shamarrie Hugie (Franklin Prep): Being part of a team with a ton of experienced players, Hugie is a long, athletic, and young prospect that continues to shine on a big stage. He utilizes his length very well on both sides of the floor, being active and showing versatility to his game.  The young man has a lot of upside and certainly is one to watch as he progresses with his game and gets stronger.

2021 Trae Benham (Concord Academy): Benham has shown a lot about his game and that he can score from multiple areas.  Today though, it was back to what we have seen for much of his high school career; it was the outside three-ball falling and really helped his team get back on track.  Add on top his leadership, he really helped turn this game around in the second half to secure the win.
