Game 4 on the night, this time having Concord Academy matchup with Combine Academy Regional.  It was Concord Academy that got out to the early lead but Combine Regional responded really well.  Tying it up after one, it was Combine's ability to knock down shots in the second quarter, especially from the play of Joel Baucom, who led with 14 first-half points.  They also brought the energy on defense, forcing Concord Academy into tough situations and creating turnovers.  It helped in Combine taking the halftime lead.

Concord Academy though came out with another gear in the third quarter, chipping away at the halftime deficit, led by their leaders at guard Trae Benham and Logan Threatt.  Both really started to pick up their game and started to attack more, eventually cutting the lead down to one late in the third.  Eventually, it was all tied up after three periods at 43 apiece.

It looked to be a battle in the fourth quarter and that is what it was, as it came down to the final seconds in this one. Teams were trading baskets and ultimately, it was time for Threatt to step up and that he did.  Threatt came up big with 2.5 seconds with a pull-up jumper, and it proved to be the game-winner for Concord Academy.

Standouts:

2022 6'3 Joel Baucom (Combine Regional): Baucom is one that may get overlooked at times but this young man is a baller and can play.  Smooth looking shot, confident release, and you can just see that his confidence continues to grow each time he steps on the floor.  He is labeled as a shooter and that is what he does best but you can see that he plays with a great IQ on the floor.

2022 6'3 Logan Threatt (Concord Academy): Threatt started out slow but really picked up the energy in the second half; this young man just seemed to be everywhere on the court. Whether it was pushing the tempo, getting others involved, scoring the ball, or creating second-chance opportunities, Threatt just seemed to step up his game to help his team.
