Second game of the day brought us Franklin Prep Regional and Cape Fear Christian. Both teams were coming off losses on Tuesday and they were looking to bounce back on the final day of the Holiday Classic. It took a few minutes for teams to adjust on the court but it was Cape Fear Christian that took the early lead midway through the first, as it was their pressure defense that created easy baskets. They continued to create turnovers and score on the other end, making them speed up and play their type of game, helping them earn a 55-18 halftime lead.  The game continued to stay with a big lead, as Cape Fear was able to cruise to a 103-46 win.

Stats:

Cape Fear:
Truman Claytor 27 points
Zeke Brock 17 points
Cinque Lemon 10 points

Franklin:
S. Blackwell 12 points
J. Kabongo 11 points

Standouts:

2022 Cinque Lemon (Cape Fear Christian): Lemon really made himself a name more at the Hoop State League and showed it once again today, as the 6’6 wing prospect brings intrigue with his blend of size, scoring, and versatility.  He can operate in multiple areas but it was the size and length that created havoc, as he got to the rim continuously in the game and there wasn’t many that could stop him.

2023 Truman Claytor (Cape Fear Christian): The sophomore was able to take advantage of the minutes he was given and he produced.  He is a 6’5 prospect with a strong frame but showed that he is capable of scoring in several ways, whether it was using his frame to body down low or get to the line, but also stretching the floor with his outside shot.

2023 S. Blackwell (Franklin Prep): Though it wasn’t the best game overall for his team, Blackwell stayed aggressive in getting north and south and attacking defenses, putting the pressure on them and scoring.  He seemed to really excel in transition, attacking the rim.

2024 Zeke Brock (Cape Fear Christian): Brock, only a freshman, really caught out eye with his aggressive, scrappy nature on the floor. He did a tremendous job in getting into defenders, creating turnovers on the defensive end but he also showed that he is a quick guard offensively. Though 5’10, he played really hard and finished with 17 points.
