Heading back to the Texas area, Phenom Hoops recently caught up with 2026 6’8 Davion Adkins, a prospect who certainly can catch your eyes with his athleticism and is starting to catch more college coaches’ eyes as well. Adkins, who plays with Southern Assault this summer, has been putting on some strong performances too early on and it isn’t hard to find him when he is flying high on both sides of the court.

When you talk about this young man’s game, he excels easily with his athleticism as he gets out in the open floor, can finish high above opponents and strong at the rim, and uses that bounce to also impact the game defensively as well. And you have to like all that with his 6’8 frame.

Adkins started off early with an offer from TCU and California, but he has now added offers from Texas Tech, Houston, and most recently Texas. When we talked to Adkins, he had just earned an offer from Houston, where he said this:

“I know that they have great competitors, and they have great defense. It is a great offer and I’m happy to receive it.”

At that time, Adkins had also mentioned schools like Florida, Texas, and Texas State had all been showing strong interest his way.  Well, Texas pulled the trigger with an offer, giving Adkins another big-time in-state offer.

His recruitment certainly has taken another leap early on this summer but we believe that this won’t be the last time you hear from him.  In talking to Adkins more about schools that he would like to check out more, he had listed Texas, Duke, Southern California, and North Carolina.
