Passion Driven Sports has been a pillar in the Pee Dee/Grand Strand area for the past two years. Gyms Gems heavily focus on small-town kids with big talent. Got a chance to attend Week 1 of Icon Cuts Fall league at Trinity Collegiate School in Florence, SC. Great basketball is being displayed in which the content can be displayed on the Savage Academy youtube channel. Here is some of the outstanding players who stood out the most from this event:
Tavean Fatumi-Brown 2023- Team Gray
Tavean currently attends Trinity Collegiate School and will be one of the top point guards in South Carolina's loaded 2023 class. Good size and long arms make him a superb on-ball defender that bothers ball handlers. He gets downhill whenever he feels like it while being a pass-first point guard. Finishes extremely well around the rim and also athletic enough to finish over it. He is special.
Jevon Brown 2023-Team Purple
After having a great summer, Jevon will make a huge impact this season. Jevon is an unselfish shooting guard who has an unlimited range. Great shooting touch with the ability to still find the open teammate. A good defender that stays in front of his man and plays the passing lanes extremely well. Potential is really high on Jevon.
Jalen Cauthen 2023- Team Golden Yellow
6'6 Rim Protector who runs the floor extremely well. High motor while still currently growing. Soft hands, who can rebound the ball at a high rate. Athleticism is off the charts. Caught the ball in traffic and finished over two defenders with body to body contact. Jalen's upside and potential will make him a prospect to watch.
Leisle Owens Jr. 2022- Team Royal
Leslie Owens Jr. had an amazing summer playing with PSB elite. Leisle has worked on his jump shot and creating his own shot. Today, he shows the ability to beat his defender off the dribble while also creating for others. Defends wings really well and can guard post players. Leisle has the making of becoming a really good basketball prospect.
Javi Marlowe 2021- Team Navy
Javi was the big surprise of the day. Strong defensive point guard who goes downhill. Finishes extremely well while hitting a few 3's today. Passes very well and always defends the team’s best player. Always try to make the winning play. If you are looking for a point guard who defends and facilitates at a high rate Javi Marlowe is your guy.
