The last two weeks for Phenom Hoops have been tremendous, as the Phenom High School Team Camps have been off the charts and allowed us to get a great view of teams for the upcoming season. This past weekend, several teams were in action and grabbed our attention, as we look to talk about different topics from what we saw.
Orange went undefeated throughout the weekend, going 6-0 at the event and allowing us to get a good opportunity to see what they may be bringing in this coming season. Though this was a team that brought some balance to the court, it was the guard duo of 2025 Xandrell Pennix and 2026 Kai Wade that really impressed.
Game after game, these two guards were able to lead the charge in showing they could be in for a big year. Pennix, a 5’9 senior guard, really embraced being an offensive factor on the court, being a strong creator on the court, knocking down shots from multiple levels, and be an impact on both sides of the court. Wade, a 6’0 junior guard, has been a leader of this team in the past but has an opportunity to really shine even more with key losses from last season. Wade can be a dynamic option in getting others as well as making plays for himself. He embraces in making plays off the dribble, being a shifty and explosive creator, and also hitting shots with his pull-up game and from deep. These two guards were putting on a show all throughout the event and we believe that that should only continue heading into the upcoming season.
Make sure you jot these names down, along with others for Orange, as they look to make noise with a new-looking roster this upcoming season.
