Court 1 Standouts
Adonis Davis, 6’1 2021 G with Team Loaded 704 15u – Powerful guard that gets it done in a
lot of different ways out on the floor. Team runs iso post-up sets for him as he is a mismatch for
most guards he faces. Once you switch out a bigger body on him he takes you off the bounce or
pulls you out and shoots over you. Good motor to him when he engages it. Decision making can
be an issue as can his defensive intensity but the raw materials are here. Put it this way, kid
produces nice numbers on cruise control. Think where he can be if he’s locked in start to finish.
Christian Cornish, 6’1 2021 G with Upward Stars Charlotte 16u – Like this kids game a lot.
We saw a ton of kids trying to be flashy and earn offers on every play this weekend but few that
just let their games talk for itself. That’s what we got from Christian. Kid just plays hard start to
finish and makes the plays he’s supposed to make. As a coach that’s all you can ask for. Not
really a 1, or a 2 but he’s a ball player that makes things happen when he’s on the floor. This is
the type of kid we want to coach.
Justin Cannady, 5’11 2020 G with Triangle Blazers 16u – Led all scorers at the half in the one
we saw with 10 behind the help of a few 3’s. Smart player finds his spots and is efficient with his
touches. Falls into the 3 and D range at this point but he is still young and has time to grow into
more. Gives good effort in all phases of the game but real value here is in the jumper. As long as
he can hit it consistently he will generate looks.
Daquante Jones, 6’1 2019 G with CSB – Tough kid that played hard start to finish. Not a great
shooter, did not have a position you can point to as what he would be defined as, but kid showed
up all over the box score anyways. His production was all driven by effort and “want to”,
something that we love to see in a player. Not the high ceiling prospect that others we have seen
here this week are but this kid is a player.
Xavier Kesler, 6’2 2020 G with Team FLY – Active guard that can score in a number of ways.
Lead all scorers with 11 first half points while we were courtside. Game is not overly smooth at
this point but his activity level helps drive his production. Athletic ability is here as well as a
decent motor, traits that help him be a factor on the glass. Can hit the outside shot but looks best
in a high tempo, transition based system. Thin frame on him but looks like he can fill out easy
without sacrificing athletic ability.
