First Flight vs. Cape Hatteras (Girls)

To start the event, it was First Flight vs. Cape Hatteras on the girls’ side. First Flight came out strong, leading 12-5 after the first quarter and continued to clamp down on Cape Hatteras defensively. Eventually, they took a 25-7 halftime lead and Cape Hatteras couldn’t find anymore success in the second half either. First Flight eventually led 42-13 at the end of the third and recorded the 51-15 victory. Abby Miles led the way with 12 points, while seven other players were able to score. First Flight was able to create 30 turnovers, which translated into 25 points.

Manteo vs. Cape Hatteras

Moving on to Game 2, Manteo and Cape Hatteras went to battle but was Manteo that made a statement early, jumping out to an early 23-3 lead after the first quarter. They only continued to build upon that, eventually leading 40-13 and sealing this game early. But just to make sure, Manteo turned it up a notch, outscoring Cape Hatteras 23-2 in the third quarter.  Manteo was dominant throughout, eventually securing the 75-23 victory.  2025 London Sawyer led the charge with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while 2027 Zay Banks wasn’t far behind with 19 points and 7 boards.  Manteo was able to force 26 turnovers and was strong in the paint, outscoring Cape Hatteras 48-16 down low.

Hargrave Military Academy vs. Hertford County

The action continued on Wednesday night with Hargrave going up against Hertford County. This was a much closer game early on than the others, with Hargrave holding the narrow lead 19-14 after the first quarter. They continued to expand their lead though in the second quarter, leading 38-25 at halftime.  Hargrave was strong throughout and didn’t let up, as Kendall Lanier led the charge with 22 points, as well as finishing with six steals as well. Also, Teshawn Ricks was off the charges on the glass, racking up 22 boards along with 12 points. They helped lead a trio of scoring as Hargrave was able to create space in the second half, eventually winning 73-50.

Word of God vs. Charlotte Performance Institute

Final game of the night, Word of God and CPI went at it on Wednesday night and it was a battle throughout the first half. Word of God led by four at halftime, leading 27-23 but it was a strong third and fourth quarter that ultimately helped seal the deal in the end. Jordan King and JJ Sati-Grier were the guards leading the charge once again for CPI, but Marcus Jackson was dominant with 19 points, 21 rebounds, while Trevor Best (16pts), Jaevian Alston (15pts), and Prince Nwokemodo (10pts) all chipped in as well to give Word of God the 70-47 victory.
