We've seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a 'Getting to Know' series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today's edition will take a closer look at Osvaldo Haynes of Providence Day.

'Finishing up, we look at a player who is truly just beginning to harness his long-term abilities, Osvaldo Haynes. He's a big, sturdy post prospect with a strong frame, defensive prowess, and a blossoming offensive identity. Haynes rebounds, alters shots, and finishes reliably out of the post. He's fairly mobile for his size and shows a willingness to utilize his body on either side of the ball. Next in his development process is working to become quicker, as it would make him a more reliable defender when operating in space. Coach Doughty on Haynes: 'This kid has 'it.' Moves well without the ball. Knows his spots and gets to them. Great in transition. Osvaldo can finish at the basket with either hand. He will be putting the Class of 2025 on notice. Expect him to challenge the top players in his grade going forward. He's relentless on the glass as a rebounder. I enjoyed coaching him.' Haynes highlighted a ton of appeal at camp, and will certainly be a prospect to monitor over the coming years at JL Chambers.'

Since then, Haynes has only continued to showcase an enticing crossroads between production and long-term upside. His time with Team Curry has allowed him to steadily grow as a two-way big man with touch, strength, and a team-first nature. Haynes is a capable scorer as needed, but typically looks to do the dirty work and simply maintain a reliable presence on both ends of the floor. He utilizes his body very well around the basket, both for altering shots and securing rebounds on either end of the floor. Haynes also runs well in transition and looks to capitalize on second-chance opportunities whenever possible. He is definitely amongst the better big men in North Carolina's Class of 2025, and it'll be exciting to watch his continued progression over these next few years.
