We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Tre McNeil of Dudley High School.

We’ve seen McNeil progress throughout the last calendar year, previously stating, “Given his status as their main interior presence, McNeil is a college-level player who still has plenty of potential to harness. Currently, he does an excellent job of embracing his role/identity and working to do the little things on either side of the ball. McNeil is the leading rebounder and shot-blocker on the team, which seems to be visible on a nightly basis. That being said, he’s also a capable finisher and continues to develop as a floor-spacing option. He can hit the occasional midrange or three-point jumper, but doesn’t force the action and primarily looks to capitalize on dunks and dump-offs. McNeil will be a prospect for colleges to monitor over the next twelve months.” Since then, we’ve said, “Though we’ve already consistently identified the New Light Disciples’ roster as a team worth noting, but still not enough people are acknowledging everything Tre McNeil is doing. He’s quietly producing at a high level on both ends of the floor. McNeil has clearly come a long way over the last eight to twelve months, highlighting a newfound confidence and comfort level at applying himself within the action. He’s a long, active, tough, athletic forward prospect with an active motor and a strong nose for the ball. McNeil is a terrific two-way rebounder, reliable finisher, and low-maintenance player who expands his production as needed. He can also block shots, hit the open jumper, attack within a few dribbles, and run the floor properly in transition. “

After our most recent entry, McNeil has only continued to trend upward. He offers excellent balance between sheer production and making hustle plays. McNeil naturally makes his presence felt as a rebounder and shot-altering presence defensively. He’s a tough, active, steady forward prospect who finishes well around the basket, plays hard on both ends, and can hit the perimeter jumper if necessary. McNeil also runs the floor very well in transition and simply finds ways to involve himself in the action. He’s clearly a next-level player who only seems to get better with time.
