We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Carter Hendrick of Catawba Ridge.

We’ve seen Hendrick in every possible setting, including at our All-American Camp, where we stated, “Next, we look at a player that simply knows how to make his presence felt with any collection of teammates, Carter Hendrick. He’s a long, wiry, well-rounded forward prospect with a willingness to fill in the gaps and provide his team with an edge however possible. Hendrick is a great rebounder and does a great job of utilizing his high motor to make plays defensively. He moves very well without the ball and capitalizes on scoring opportunities within the flow of the offense. Hendrick is a reliable midrange shooter with solid finishing ability around the basket. Next in his development process is working on expanding his moves out of the post, as it would allow him to take advantage of smaller opponents around the paint. Coach Harmon on Hendrick: “Carter is team player and very coachable. He moves well without the ball offensively and converted short range jumpers in catch-and-shoot situations. He can improve on being aggressive and defensive rebounding. He plays hard on both ends of the floor.” Hendrick proved to be an asset throughout camp and should be a strong contributor during his upcoming season at Catawba Ridge. “

Very little has changed since then, as Hendrick still continues to showcase the makings of a useful next-level player. He’s maintained his identity as a wiry, high-motor forward with touch, face-up ability, and capabilities as a rebounder on either side of the ball. Hendrick utilizes his body and length effectively to get involved as a defensive presence within the paint. He’s a solid athlete with the necessary approach to consistently outwork his assignment for extra opportunities on a regular basis. Hendrick runs the floor hard in transition, positions himself for success, and displays a willingness to do whatever possible to provide his team with an edge. Expect college coaches to lay groundwork over the coming months.
