We've seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a 'Getting to Know' series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today's edition will take a closer look at Robert Moore of Porter Gaud and TMP.
We've seen Moore throughout the last year or so, including at SC Top 80, where we stated, 'Next, we look at a player that possesses all the tools to progress into a noteworthy prospect, Robert Moore. He's a long, wiry, young wing/forward prospect with IQ, unselfishness, and a blossoming offensive skillset. Moore typically applies the most pressure as a floor-spacer from beyond the arc, but also attacks effectively off the dribble'where he's able to finish or make smart passes. He's a reliable defender and rebounder, especially for his age, and doesn't display any glaring weaknesses on either side of the ball. Next in his development process is working to get stronger, as it would make him a more physically imposing player on either side of the ball. Coach Carpenter on Moore: 'Robert can score the basketball! He is very silky and deliberate with his stroke. He has range and deft touch. He also defends and communicates well. Plays with tremendous effort and a very dangerous scorer on all three levels.' Moore continues to showcase a ton of ability, especially at an early age, and will definitely be a prospect for coaches to watch closely over the foreseeable future.'
It doesn't take a brilliant basketball mind to identify the obvious appeal with someone like Moore. Not only does he already have all the necessary tools to be an exceptional player, but the programs of Porter Gaud and TMP have proven to be incredible at developing prospects to reach their maximum potential. Moore was the main freshman to receive playing time on both teams. While it's easy to get excited about the smart, skilled wing prospect, he still has a ton of long-term upside and should legitimately continue to improve over the coming years. Moore could easily be the next noteworthy name to emerge from these storied organizations.
