We've seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a 'Getting to Know' series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today's edition will take a closer look at'Howard Herbert of Trinity Christian.

We've seen Herbert in every possible setting, including at our Grassroots Tip-Off, where we stated, 'Given his all-around ability, it should come as no surprise to see Herbert listed as a standout performer. He's already smart, possesses an excellent frame, the necessary mentality to overwhelm his assignment on both ends of the floor. Herbert runs the offense, creates effectively for himself and others, and defends multiple position. He also scores efficiently and frequently from all levels.' Which was quickly followed by, 'Right now, it would be difficult to find many guys within North Carolina's Class of 2025 who are more prepared for the high school game than Howard Herbert. He already has the physique and well-rounded skillset to be a useful contributor as early as next season. Herbert operated as a primary leader for Team Loaded, offering IQ, toughness, and versatility on both ends of the floor. He scored from all three levels, actively looked to get others involved, and more than carried his weight as a defender and rebounder. Herbert is also a reliable threat in transition, both with and without the ball in his hands. He's simply a quality player and should only continue to get better over the coming years.'

In all honesty, it's becoming increasingly difficult to envision any scenario where Herbert doesn't pan out as a highly successful basketball player. As a rising freshman, his blend of IQ, size, skill, and athleticism already exceeds that of most active high school prospects. Herbert possesses the mentality and all-around skillset to be a leader amongst any collection of teammates. He's equally as reliable in transition as the half court, displaying an understanding of how to operate with or without the ball in his hands. Herbert is also a useful creator for himself and others with the ability to defend multiple positions on the other end of the floor. Right now, he has no glaring weaknesses. The upside is obvious, so Herbert should definitely be a prospect worth noting over the foreseeable future.
