We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Antonio Perkins of Northside Christian.

We’ve seen Perkins in every possible setting, including at our most recent NC Top 80, where we stated, “Continuing onto a player that seems capable of adapting to a glue-guy role in every possible setting, Antonio Perkins. He’s an unselfish, well-rounded wing prospect that simply knows how to produce within the team concept on both ends of the floor. Perkins is a steady, consistent rebounder on both ends of the floor with the ability to play bigger than his size and push transition play quite easily. He defends multiple positions and understands how to capitalize on scoring opportunities within the flow of the offense. Next in his development process is working to become a craftier ball-handler, as it would make him a more lethal offensive threat. Coach Bridgers on Perkins: “Antonio got injured early in our first game and didn’t play for the rest of the day. However, he did stay on the bench and support his teammates.” Perkins performed well and continued to showcase impressive attributes as a teammate, which should seamlessly translate into the upcoming season at Hopewell.”
Everything stated above quickly came to fruition over the ensuing months, as Perkins was a nightly leader for the Titans. Not only did he produce in a steady, efficient manner across the board, but he consistently defended, made hustle plays, and operated within his role on both ends of the floor. Perkins’ natural identity as a glue-guy allows him to find opportunities in every possible setting, and expand his production as needed. He’s a reliable shooter, defender, creator, and rebounder with the necessary IQ, size, and motor to outwork his assignment on a consistent basis. Perkins recently decided to transfer to Northside Christian and reclassify to the Class of 2023, which should only make him more enticing to college coaches. Additionally, playing alongside various guys who are getting pursued by multiple levels should only bolster Perkins’ long-term recruitment.
