We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Jasean Williams of Wesleyan Christian.
We’ve seen Williams since the start of his journey, most recently stating, “This final entry was somewhat difficult, since various guys could’ve been chosen from this balanced Team DWill roster. However, Jasean Williams consistently stood out as a leader for this group—both through production and by example. He’s a smart, unselfish, well-rounded point guard prospect with a great balance between scoring and playmaking. Williams looks to create for others whenever possible but actively takes advantage of scoring opportunities from all three levels. He’s a great teammate who communicates, battles on both ends of the floor, and makes the right play at a consistent rate. Williams is equally reliable in the half-court and open floor, and forces turnovers at a nice volume. He can create effectively off the bounce, knock down jumpers, or finish through contact around the basket. Given his progression, Williams could definitely be due for a breakout season.”
There are a ton of players who are faced with adversity and struggle to overcome, and then there’s Williams. After a ton of ups and downs, he’s still focused on progressing and developing his game to the highest possible level. Williams has always possessed a natural instinct as a well-rounded gamer who simply knows how to play. However, his game has clearly taken another step over the last few months. His confidence level is skyrocketing, but his IQ, poise, and unselfish nature haven’t wavered. Williams is the type of teammate that everyone should want to play alongside, as he makes great decisions and consistently elevates others on both ends of the floor. He shoots the ball at a high percentage, attacks the basket whenever possible, and looks to access the best possible decision on every possession. Expect to hear Williams’ name a lot more over these next few seasons.
