We've seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a 'Getting to Know' series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today's edition will take a closer look at Damani Day of Victory Christian.

We've seen Day plenty of times throughout the years, including at our most recent All-American camp, where we stated, 'Continuing onto a player that continues to showcase the makings of a blossoming floor general, Damani Day. He's a smart, sturdy point guard prospect with an excellent balance between playmaking and three-level scoring. Day regularly stood out among the top passers on display, consistently setting the tone with his poised decision-making and ability to dissect the opposing defense. He also defends his position well and pushes the break effectively in transition. Next in his development process is working on his defensive prowess, as it would make him an even tougher assignment for opposing guards. Coach Simpson on Day: 'Damani is a high-IQ guard. He's very confident moving and scoring with or without the ball in his hands. He's an efficient scorer who can attack off the bounce or stretch the floor in catch-and-shoot situations. He's very often in control and on-balance when penetrating to the basket. Damani looks like a definite next-level player, and could receive a ton of attention if he continues to work.' Day ran the team with poise throughout his time at camp and could easily have a breakout sophomore season for Victory Christian.'

Going forward, Day should have the opportunity to dictate the action for this new-look Victory Christian squad. His understanding of how to run a team is evident in all settings, as Day does a great job of being a balanced, unselfish floor general. He's a reliable playmaker and penetrator with the ability to score from multiple levels or consistently set up others. Day is a capable shooting threat and useful defender at the point of attack. He possesses a high IQ and doesn't force the action with the ball in his hands. Day is a solid athlete with a sturdy frame and a willingness to utilize his body on both ends of the floor. He will be one to watch going forward.
