Getting to Know: 6’0 2022 CeDavion Wimbley (South View HS)

We first saw Cedavion Wimbley back in 2018 at the Phenom G3 Showcase. “Of all the prospects on display, there were very few with more promise than Cedavion Wimbley of Flight 22 Fayetteville. He was among an elite class of guys who were able to carry the offense while defending the best opposing player from start to finish. Overall, Wimbley is an efficient three-level scorer, but his ability to finish inside the arc is far beyond his three-point shooting right now. In many ways, he’s the glue-guy on this team, but he also knows how to take over on both sides of the floor. Wimbley is certainly one of the most intriguing prospects to watch going forward, given his productivity and potential at such a young age.”
This past season, Wembley transferred to South View High School after the first semester and had an immediate impact. He averaged 20.1 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 2.7 APG, and 3.7 SPG. The change of scenery proved tremendous dividends for Wembley. Coach Travis Lemanski stated, “Wembley has deep range, excellent basketball IQ, and has great anticipation playing the passing lanes. More importantly, Wembley is a great competitor.”

Coach Rick’s Breakdown
One thing is crystal clear, Wembley has tremendous range and touch. As the old saying goes, “Once Wembley steps off the bus, he is in range to knock down a long distant 3-pointer. Wembley does an excellent job of moving well without the ball and getting his feet squared with his shoulders. He has solid shooting mechanics, technique and form. The next step in his development is shot selection and bringing defensive consistency. On the flip side, Wembley does have terrific instincts and anticipates the passing lanes with high efficiency.
