We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at CP Perry.

We’ve seen Perry in numerous camps, previously stating, Next, we look at a player that consistently stands out with his unselfishness and team-first approach, CP Perry. He’s a young, wiry guard prospect that already communicates, displays a nice feel for the game, and makes his presence felt quite regularly. Perry can knock down open jumpers, make smart passes to teammates, and position himself properly on defense. Next in his development process is working to get stronger, as it would allow him to shoot it more consistently from distance. Coach Smith on Perry: “CP is a quick guard with good instincts and range. He has an up-tempo style and pushes the ball in transition with the best of them. He sees the court well on both ends of the floor, defends on the ball well, and has good positioning in off-ball defense. His next steps include getting stronger physically and working on his off-hand ball-handling.” Perry continues to highlight a quality foundation at camp and should be a player worth noting for the future.” Which was recently followed by, There were a lot of productive contributors for Team Ish, and Perry stood out as a consistent tone-setter from start to finish. He’s an absolute pest defensively, providing a ton of energy, overwhelming opposing ball-handlers, and forcing turnovers with regularity. Offensively, Perry showcased the full arsenal. He hit shots, made plays off the bounce, and set up others at a strong rate. Given his age and blend of skills, Perry will be one to keep an eye on.”

Although young, there is already clearly a lot to like about Perry. He possesses a variety of appealing tools and traits, but his IQ and scrappy two-way nature are arguably his most game-changing qualities. Perry can control the offensive action with poise, setting up others while finding ways to apply scoring pressure from all three levels. He can succeed with or without the ball in his hands, simply based on team need. Perry is tougher than he initially appears, and makes his presence consistently felt as a defender. He routinely forces turnovers, pushes transition play, and makes the correct decision with the ball in his hands. Folks would be wise to keep an eye on Perry over the foreseeable future, as he has the foundation to be a very notable player.
