We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Kareem Osman of Northwest Guilford.

We’ve seen Osman in various different settings, previously stating, “Different from the previous duo, Osman is another scoring guard with quickness and a scrappy presence defensively. He’s more of a penetrator than perimeter shooter, but still more than capable of knocking down the open jumper. Osman moves well without the ball, both in the half-court and transition, and can create effectively off the dribble as needed. He’s slightly undersized but had no issue making his presence felt against opposing guards throughout the weekend.” Which was later followed by, “Given our viewings of Osman, it was difficult to be anything other than impressed with his performance in the first showing of the day. He’s quick, scrappy, and able to make smart decisions as a balanced floor general. Osman is arguably at his best when looking to set up others, but can also attack the basket and finish or knock down the occasional perimeter jumper. He’s a tough defender with great energy and the ability to force turnovers at a nice rate. Osman could be poised for a productive high school season.”

It’s easy to see the overall development in Osman’s game over the last year, especially given what he’s shown with the New Light Disciples group. He’s a tough, unselfish, two-way point guard who does a great job of creating for others while finding scoring opportunities for himself. Osman is a harassing on-ball defender with the ability to force turnovers and consistently push transition play. He’s a smart passer who looks to make the right read on every possession. Osman finishes well for his size, regularly accesses his midrange pull-up, and can knock down three-pointers at a solid clip. He has definitely stood out as a leader with this Disciples group, and should be a strong contributor for Northwest Guilford going forward.
