We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at JJ Moore of Huss.
We’ve seen Moore countless times over the years, including recently at our Summer Grind, where we stated, “The contest between NLPB and Team Eat was arguably the most exciting showdown of the event, and JJ Moore proved to be the clear difference-maker in their winning effort. After being extremely productive throughout the last calendar year, folks should already know about the smart, heady two-way guard. For those who don’t, Moore is tough and reliable with the ability to effectively run a team and/or operate as an efficient primary scorer. His IQ and leadership by example are both evident through his approach on either end of the floor. Moore is slightly undersized, but it really doesn’t seem to matter in most cases. He’s quick, crafty, and possesses a strong balance between scoring and playmaking. Moore contains his assignment well defensively and understands how to involve himself in the rebounding battle whenever necessary. He displays nice pace to his game, both in transition and the half court, and can pile on points in a hurry. It should be common knowledge at this point, but Moore should be a priority for various types of scholarship-level programs.”
Though slightly undersized, it’s become truly impossible to ignore the production Moore is putting forth on a game-to-game basis. Not only is he dominating for his high school and posting nightly averages of 19.1 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 5.1 APG, and 4.4 SPG (with positive shooting percentages), but he’s maintaining his greatness throughout the summer season. Moore has proven to be a gamer and the type of competitor that various teams could utilize. He’s a smart, quick, crafty guard with the ability to generate clean shots from anywhere on the floor. Moore handles the ball with poise, makes quality passes, and understands how to operate as a leader. For those who watched him over the last few months, his ability to shine should come as no surprise.
