A dual-sport athlete on the football field and on the basketball court, 2021 6’3 Jamarien Dalton looks to have several options ahead of him in either sport.

As a junior this season on the basketball court, Dalton led the charge averaging 23 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, helping North Davidson secure a 25-5 overall record and 16-2 conference record.  He was also named Central Carolina Conference Player of the Year and to the All-Conference team.

On the football field, Dalton racked up 1,009 yards receiving and 13 receiving touchdowns (16 total) this past season.

Dalton holds offers in both sports, so there certainly will be some decisions to be made down the road.  For basketball, he holds offers from Lees-McRae and Davidson CC, while receiving interest Winthrop, North Alabama, Gardner-Webb, Furman, Mars Hill, and Lander.  On the football side of things, he currently holds offers from Army, Elon, Campbell, and Catawba.

Focusing on the basketball side though for Dalton, he has continued to progress in his development on the court while being a phenomenal student as well, holding a 4.075 GPA.

In speaking with North Davidson head coach Josh Snyder, he has been impressed with what he has seen on the floor over the years by the junior prospect.

“Jamarien has progressed each year in the program,” he told Phenom Hoops.  “He has been on varsity since his freshman year and continues to grow.  He has a high basketball IQ and sees the floor well.  Dalton has developed a quick first step, shoots it well from outside, and has a great ability to put it on the floor and really attack the basket, along with seeing court to get his teammates involved.  His athleticism has risen each year as well.  Jamarien is a hard-working young man, both on the court and in the classroom.”

Dalton has put in a ton of work to get where he is in either sport.  What he showed this past summer at the Phenom All-American camp to where he is today, this is player that college coaches should certainly be taking a look at because he screams nothing but production.

What was said at All-American Camp in 2019:

“Continuing onto a player that is able to assert himself as a three-level scorer within any context, Jamarien Dalton. He’s a long, wiry, athletic guard prospect with a quality two-way feel for the game and the ability to attack the basket at a consistently high rate. Dalton has a formidable perimeter jumper and is capable of creating for others off the bounce. Next in his development process is working to become a better playmaker, as he has the necessary tools to be an excellent creator for others. Coach Doughty on Dalton: “Jamarien came to showcase himself at this camp and did so without forsaking his teammates, which is so rare. He scored inside and outside. He’s quick as lightning and possesses a great first step. He drives to the basket with tremendous force, scoring through contact and his second effort is top-notch. My favorite rebound is the offensive rebounder and he kept me happy. This guy is ready to show us what he has, and did exactly that over the weekend.” Dalton should be the undisputed leader this season at North Davidson and should be one to keep a close eye on going forward.”
