Players carve themselves out a role on their team. At Hickory Grove Christian, 2021 Chas Stinson has carved his out with the program, and even even though he may go under the radar, he needs to start gaining attention for what he can provide on the floor.

This past season, Stinson averaged 12 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.5 steals per game for the Lions, as he can easily be labled as a do-it-all type of player. But Stinson is one that sacrifcies and simply makes his team better with his winning attitude.

He is hoping to bring that same mentality and ability this summer with Team Loaded 704, as Coach Tom Mitchell spoke more about Stinson’s game.

“Chas is a high academic 6'3' point guard with a 6'7' wingspan. A tremendous athlete with great versatility, Chas averaged three steals a game this past year with Hickory Grove Christian and led the team in assists and blocks. A team-first guy, Chas does an excellent job running the offense and making the proper pass and can score from all three levels. A high-level shooter, Chas is also proficient off the bounce and can get to the rim and finish, and his athleticism and toughness enable him to guard multiple positions effectively. A high energy player, Chas has a great attitude, works hard at his game, and has been a pleasure to coach.”

We at Phenom Hoops have also got glimpses of Stinson’s game in the past in multiple events, having this to say:

“He may be 6'3 but has a 6'7 wingspan, scores the ball, can be a secondary ball-handler, as well as be a key rebounder. Stetson can and will be depended on to fill up the box score for this team in many ways.”

NC Phenom 150 Evaluation from 2018:

“He's a long-bodied guard prospect with quickness and the ability to consistently generate offense for himself and others. Stinson can play either guard spot, allowing him to highlight his penetration and efficient shooting from the perimeter. He's a nice ball-handler with playmaking instincts and the ability to make the right pass at the correct time. Stinson is a well-rounded defender with quality anticipation for jumping into passing lanes.

When speaking with Stinson, he said that he has been receiving some interest from schools such as Columbia, Winthrop, Army, Mars Hill, Randolph-Macon, Hood College. Charlotte, UC San Diego, Queens and Catawba.

As far as his focus this offseason, Stinson is looking to become more consistent from the three-point line as well as improving his ballhandling.
