We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events over the past few years but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Mekhi Grant of Combine Academy.

Prior to the season, we featured Grant on our “Poised to Breakout” series, where we stated, Playing at Comenius and in Tennessee with B. Maze Elite, a lot of folks don’t know that much about Grant. That being said, he has a chance to be very special. Grant is arguably the most versatile two-way player on this list, given the way he develop his foundation from the perimeter and has only continued to expand his skillset along the process. He’s grown over the last year, but still possesses excellent ball skills, both as a ball-handler and overall creator. Grant will definitely contribute next season at Combine Academy, but it should eventually become his squad over the next few years.”

This past season, Grant was one of many pieces within a loaded frontcourt. He continually improved throughout the course of the year, but still has a ton of untapped potential. Grant highlighted flashes of being an inside-out dynamo with major upside as a versatile defender. He displays touch, fluidity, and can stretch the floor decently well for his size/position. Although Combine’s frontcourt is arguably even better this upcoming season, Grant’s should still get ample opportunity to shine. He already holds offers from Wichita State and NC State, but that list will only continue to grow over the coming years.
