We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events over the past few years but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Jakwon Moore of Pender High School.

We’ve seen Moore countless times, including at our NC Phenom 150 Camp prior to the season, where we stated, Next, we look at a player that was utterly and consistently dominant throughout his time at camp, Jakwon Moore. He’s a strong, athletic, well-rounded wing prospect with grit, toughness, and quality two-way versatility. Moore dictated the offensive action quite effectively as the primary creator and overall leader, attacking the rim, pulling-up from midrange, and getting others involved at a quality rate. He defended multiple positions and forced numerous turnovers, which allowed him to shine pretty frequently in transition. Moore also rebounded the ball at a fairly nonstop rate and made smart decisions on fast-breaks. Next in his development process is working on his consistency from beyond the arc, as it would make him virtually unstoppable. Coach Lindell on Moore: “Jakwon has a tremendous upside in that he’s super-athletic and knows the game. He changes speeds very well on offense and can finish well with either hand. He has a nice midrange to three-point jumper. Jakwon is a willing passer and playmaker. Once he decides to turn it up, he’s very difficult to contain.” Moore led his team to a championship while also securing the camp MVP with relative ease, and should ultimately have the attention of college coaches going forward.

Moore is coming off a very productive sophomore season, where he was an exceptional running mate alongside Jajuan Carr. He posted nightly averages of 15.9 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 1.1 SPG while highlighting consistent flashes of athleticism and inside-out versatility. Moore is a very physical wing/forward with IQ, toughness, and the ability to dominate anywhere inside the arc. Since college coaches became allowed to contact prospects in the Class of 2022, Moore has collected offers from FIU and Hofstra. More scholarships are likely to come, especially if Moore continues on his current trajectory.
