An intriguing player that has been on the rise of late, especially this past season, 2021 point guard KJ Garrett has been improving his game.

This past season, Garrett averaged 17 points, 6.3 assists, and 4 rebounds per game for High Point Christian and his game has continued to grow and mature on the court.' Garrett would say this past season showed him a lot both on and off the court, making him a better leader and making smarter decisions with his game.

High Point Christian suffered some tough losses early on but ended up finishing with a 7-3 conference record, but Garrett says that he learned a lot from those early games in the season.

'I think the early losses were more like little wins for us,' he said.  'As a team, our chemistry was there.  It was just the little things we needed to patch up for us to start winning games like talking on defense and rebounding.'

'My mindset was to show that I could compete every night.' But really, I was just trying to make my dad who passed away proud, putting a smile on his face.' I also wanted to show my improved shot and strength.'

That same mindset is being used this summer as well and heading into next season, as Garrett will be taking an even bigger leadership role with key seniors now graduating from the program.' Garrett wants to continue to focus on his overall game, showing that he is a winner, getting his teammates involved but also showing he can be a true bucket-getter.

It seems that he has already shown that to two college programs, as he earned his first offer back in 2017 from New Hampshire and his latest one coming from North Carolina A&T.

'Earning that first offer was great, my relationship with them is strong and is getting stronger for sure,' he said about his New Hampshire offer.  'The offer from NC A&T was super special as well, homegrown in Greensboro so that is really close to home; that is always good.  The energy there is unreal and the program seems great to be in.'

With two offers already on the table, Garrett mentioned that schools like Liberty, Texas A&M, Charlotte, Campbell, American, Richmond, and College of Charleston have all been in touch, saying they want to get him on campus and see him play.

He already has taken a visit to Liberty, a visit that he certainly enjoyed.

Garrett has been on the rise in North Carolina and with his game continuing to mature, he certainly is going to be a big target and a name to remember.
