2022 Zachary Davis was a name many might have not known a few years back.  Just over a year ago, Davis earned his first D1 offer from South Carolina State, as Phenom Hoops introduced many about his intriguing game.

At that time, he had this to say about his game:

'Well, first I'm a pass-first guard. I like to give my teammates the ball and let them score then that gives me a boost, so when I start scoring, it comes easy. Being 6'7, you have people at your games in the stands saying 'dunk on him' and all but that is not all that college coaches want to see, they want to see if you can control your team and I think I do a good job at that.'

Fast-forward to now, Davis is now committed to South Carolina and is looking to end his high school career with a bang. On the season, Davis is posting impressive numbers of 23.9ppg, 7.8rapg, 9.5rpg, 3.0spg, and 2.5bpg, helping Denmark-Olar high school to a 16-7 overall record and counting.

Phenom Hoops caught up with the future Gamecock and senior to get the latest update with his game, his season, and his future at South Carolina.

Phenom: Overall, how has this season been going for you and your team'
Davis: We finished the regular season with a record of 16-7.  I feel like the season has been going great for me and my team. I can say for myself, this is probably my best year, just all-around being a leader and giving it 100 percent every game and doing what I have to do to win and for my teammates, they have been playing great.  Everyone on the team has their own role and as long as everyone plays their role, the sky is the limit for this team.

Phenom: What kind of mindset did you come in with this year and do you think you have been able to show everything you can do on the floor'
Davis: The mindset I came in with this year was to just kill whoever is in front of me and lead my team to the state championship.  I feel like I've shown that I can do but not all; there is a lot more installed from Zack Davis.

Phenom: What has it been like having your commitment behind you and focusing on just playing this year'
Davis: It is just a lot of pressure off me, knowing that I know where I'm going and all I have to do. Now just staying in the gym and in the classroom.

Phenom: How has everything been going with the staff at USC and your excitement with the program'
Davis: Everything has been going great. I love that I and the staff stay in contact. My excitement for the program is still there and I'm ready to get there.

Phenom: What are they hoping you can bring to the program in the future'
Davis: USC is expecting me to bring my ability to see the floor, defense, the ability to score, and a new level of energy.
