6'1 unsigned senior can flat 'light it up' from the perimeter. We have watched Lowery countless times over his high school career at North Mecklenburg. We're talking about a shooting guard with an excellent frame and is a big time catch and shoot 3-point specialist. While we have always been impressed with his offensive skill set, he is a willing defender that can be a disruptive force on the defensive end of the court.

North Mecklenburg finished an impressive 24-4 and played in the NCHSAA 4A division and Jaylen Lowery was an instrumental part of their success. This past season, Lowery averaged 11.5 PPG, 2.5 APG, 3 RPG, and 2.1 SPG. He was the team's third leading scorer behind two high major prospects in Jae'lyn Withers and Tristan Maxwell. Playing on a well-balanced team that won back-to-back conference championships, Lowery also led the team in charges taken. As we alluded to earlier, Lowery can and was a disruptive force on the defensive end of the court.

Coach Duane Lewis stated, 'Lowery was a leader on and off the court. He was our best on ball defender who has a college ready frame. Offensively, he can really shoot the 3-point and has the ability to create his own shot with his patented pull up jumper. Lowery really embraced the role of being that leader who took on the challenge of guarding the other team's best player.''Off the court, Lowery has been the example of a true student athlete. He sports a solid 3.0 core GPA and has scored over 1000 on the two-part S.A.T. He has gotten interest from Furman, VMI, Fayetteville State, Charleston (WV), Concord, and Southern Wesleyan. D1 and D2 schools that are in need of a defensive minded scoring guard should contact North Mecklenburg's head coach Duane Lewis. One thing we have learned over the years, prospects that have played for Duane Lewis have a reputation for playing hard and being tough-minded defensive players. While Lowery may be somewhat undersized at the shooting guard position, he does have the ability to slide over and play some point guard. He's a terrific young man that could benefit the appropriate school that could use his ability to play both ends of the court. In addition, previous North Mecklenburg players that a tendency to be a surprise once they get into college and we expect no differently with Jaylen Lowery.
