We have written extensively over the past year about 6'0 senior Weston Edwards and rightfully so. We're talking about a heroic and outstanding young man that has fought the odds to even play competitive basketball again and done so with huge success. This past season for Concord First Assembly, Weston averaged 15 PPG, but what's even more impressive was his shooting efficiency. He shot 52% from the 3-point line and 85% from the free throw line. More importantly, he only averaged 9.5 shots per game. In addition, he padded the stat sheets with 3 APG, 3 RPG, and 1.5 SPG to make him an all around player.

This past season, Weston made 146 3-pointers for the year. His performance on the court earned him First Team All Conference. Sporting an unbelievable 4.3 GPA, Weston was recently offered the Presidential Scholarship for Basketball by Delaware State. Known for this outstanding perimeter shooting, Weston has the reputation of being of the better shooters in the state. He has a quick release and plays with a high basketball IQ. Now, let's take another look at the courageous story of Weston Edwards. Once you read his story, it's easy to tell the consistency and ability this young man can provide a college coach at the appropriate level. All he needs is just that once chance and opportunity to fulfill his dreams. Pretty amazing since he is lucky to be alive today.

Stories of faith and inspiration have also been a platform that is dear and important to us.

Over the years, the Phenom Hoop Report has provided a platform for young players to get their name out to college coaches. In addition, we have tried to give attention to human life stories. Stories of faith and inspiration have also been a platform that is dear and important to us. In April of 2016, we wrote about Weston Edwards, 'A Living Miracle' which is an uplifting story of courage and perseverance. We'll talking about a young man who is lucky to be alive, much less playing competitive basketball.

This past spring and summer, we got a chance to watch this inspirational young man play several times. Prior the David Rose Memorial Day Classic, we wrote, 'One thing is for sure, Weston Edwards can flat 'fill it up' from the perimeter, especially from the 3-point line. He's a pure shooter and a threat anytime he touches the ball. Coach Crawford stated,'Weston is averaging four 3-pointers per game this AAU season and averaging 14 PPG and 8 RPG.' Weston rebounds extremely well for his size and position and does plays at a full throttle pace.' At the David Rose Memorial Day Classic, Weston Edwards put on a shooting exhibition. Shooters translate and Weston Edwards has the shooter's touch. He averaged 18 PPG going for 10, 25, and 19 and hit 15 3-pointers for the three games, that's an average of five 3-pointers per game. Weston is terrific in the 'catch and shoot' situation. He has good mechanics and a quick release.

As the summer and tournaments went by, Weston Edwards was a name that caught our attention time after time. He was putting up big numbers and now Weston is in his senior year for Concord First Assembly and guess what, he is doing the same thing for his high school team. Concord First Assembly is currently 8-4 and Weston is a major contributor. Weston is averaging 16 PPG, 4 APG, and 3.5 RPG. He is shooting 47% from the 3-point line and 82% from the free throw line. In addition, Weston is a model student athlete and sports an amazing 4.12 GPA.

While Weston is somewhat undersized as a 6'0 shooting guard, he has proven his value as one of the elite shooters in the state. Currently, he is getting interest from Delaware State, Newberry, Milligan and Johnson & Wales. As we have stated often, shooters translate at any level and he is now just looking for that one chance, that one opportunity. For someone who is a 'living miracle,' his next step in his journey is getting that opportunity to play at the collegiate level.
