Joel Ntambwe has been on the Phenom Hoop Report radar for quite some time now. He has a unique blend of athleticism and an advanced skill set that is envied by high major college coaches.

This season he was playing on the Forest Trail High School team, but recently moved over to the Forest Trail Prep (Post Grad) team. Joel is having a banner year on the basketball court. He is averaging 20 PPG, 8 RPG, and 5 APG. Joel stated, “He has offers from Arkansas, Duquesne, Murray State, North Florida, Providence, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Wichita State.” In addition, Joel stated, “He is now getting interest from Clemson, Texas, NC State, and Virginia Tech.”

During our open gym tour in September, we stated the following.

“Joel can score from all three levels. He is efficient from the 3-point line but plays more like a “point forward.” He has advanced ball handling and passing skills for his size and position. Joel has the ability to grab a defensive rebound and lead the break in transition. In transition, he has the ability to pass off he dribble with either hand and make accurate and timely passes. He simply showcased an amazing offensive arsenal. It won’t be long before high majors come knocking on his door. Joel has all the tools and is definitely a high major prospect.”

Our Open Gym evaluation has dovetailed nicely with his overall play this season. Joel simply has the ability to score, rebound, and be an effective playmaker. He has all the tools and it’s easy to see the number of high major offers and interest. That being said, Joel is still somewhat flying under the recruiting radar. Not many 6’8 players can score, handle and pass as smoothly and fluidly as Joel Ntambwe.
