Carmel Christian quietly racking up the wins
After starting the season 1-3 against some very good teams, Carmel Christian has quietly been racking up the wins and continued its winning ways on Friday against NC GBB. This is a battle-tested team that has been coming together with strong guard play, playing tough defense, and having veteran leaders really step up. 2025 Bryce Slay is now back and leading the way, but the importance of 2025 Miles Leaks, 2025 Braylen Bowman, 2025 Chandler Kennedy, and others have really elevated their play. This team has been playing well.
Queens Grant proving to be a strong contender
There is no doubt about it, Queens Grant has truly tested itself to start the season and they are preparing themselves in hopes of making a deep run this season. This is such a unique team with its blend of athleticism, experience, young talent, and balance on the court, as they continue to prove they can beat you in a variety of ways. The more and more we see this team, the more you can see that this team is coming together and has a chance to be a title contender this season.
Forsyth Country Day isn’t going anywhere and will be in the mix again
FCDS lost some big-time talent from last year that allowed them to win a state title; there is no doubt that they were going to be hard to replace but they are proving that this team is back and ready to contend once again. Watching them on Friday night, FCDS really displayed a tremendous balance on the court; they look to share the ball offensively and have a team mentality along with a clear leader in 2026 Q Williams. But what impressed me was also their defensive impact, swarming around, creating havoc, and making it tough for the offense to find easy shots. It was an impressive overall showing on Friday night for the home team.
