We continue to highlight freshmen around the country, and this time we look down in Texas at a 2026 6'0 guard in Elijah Garrett from Westbrook HS. Garrett has had a solid start to the season, averaging 8.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for the Bruins. And now, he was able to solidify his first offer, as Lamar is the first program to offer the young guard. We caught up with him briefly about his game and season, along with his early thoughts on his recruitment.
Phenom: How has the season been going your way so far'
Garrett: Great, we are now 19-6, so that is good but there is always room for improvement.
Phenom: How would you best describe your game'
Garrett: Aggressive but poise when need be. I like to operate off the pick and roll, and I excel with my ability to get to the rim. The area that I'm working on is my mid-range pull-up.
Phenom: What was it like to get that first offer from Lamar' How are you taking it all in'
Garrett: It was a great moment for me and I'm still soaking it all in. Since I got that first offer, my work ethic has improved tremendously, and my mindset has changed.

Garrett: Houston, Texas, Duke, and Kansas
