The great thing about Phenom Hoops is that we don’t stop sharing and producing content after players leave the high school scene, as we continue to highlight players really making an impact at the next level. A player that Phenom Hoops was strong and saw the production was then 2023 McCaskill Rivers from East Gaston.

Rivers was an intriguing prospect who first flourished to MVP honors at our Exposure Camp and only continued his production throughout his high school career, eventually ending his senior campaign averaging a double-double and leading East Gaston to a very strong season. Now a freshman at Milligan, he has only continued that strong success with his game, showing his ability to impact and be an effective scoring option. On the season early on, Rivers is averaging nearly 15 points and four rebounds, shooting 44 percent from the floor.

Milligan was able to snag a true steal here in North Carolina and his game is paying off in a big way for the Buffaloes.

What We Said:

“On the season, the junior forward is posting averages of 17.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, as he is quietly making a name for himself in NC. Rivers continues to show that he has great touch around the basket, moves and operates well with his frame, and can embrace being a force in the paint as well as getting to the line. His impressive double-double stat line just reminds us once again how dominant he was at the camp. Rivers’ ability to run the floor, display great hands, use his body and physical presence on the boards and production should catch the attention of coaches at the next level. Make sure you jot his name down for this summer for sure.”

“Rivers was absolutely dominant from the start and rolled his way to MVP at the camp. The 6’5 forward moved incredibly well on the floor, running the court to get easy baskets, finishing well around the rim, and through contact. It seems that there weren’t many that could slow him down, as he averaged 33 points in an impressive showing; great touch with this young man.”
