Jaylen Fornes was a name that at times went under the radar unless you were from around North Carolina. 'But the 6-2 guard from Word of God has finally been given the attention he deserves, as he has been one of the hottest prospects this summer around the area.

Fornes has been a prospect that really has taken over social media with his thunderous “body bag” dunks that your Grandma can’t even watch. 'Fornes has earned offers from UTEP, UNCW, George Mason, Charlotte, Hofstra, and Buffalo recently, only adding to his Kansas State, Lehigh, Florida A&M, Campbell, and UCF offers.

He is somewhat getting use to the fact though, as several programs have been in touch with him after his play on the circuit with SEBL this summer. 'But he has been taking it one day at a time.

“It’s just coming all at once, trying to slow it down as best as I can but its good, I can’t complain,” Fornes told Phenom Hoops. '”It was good this past summer, I learned a lot from switching teams and stuff like that.”

Fornes informed us that Appalachian State, UNCW, Charlotte, Wofford, UNCG, Buffalo, Loyola, and UTEP are the programs that have been reaching out to him the hardest lately.

Playing for a talented SEBL team, Fornes really enjoyed himself as the coaching staff gave him freedom to do what he does on the court. 'He was able to knock down shots, slash to the basket, defend anyone of the court, and bring that “swag” to his team, as they took home some hardward this summer at the Phenom Hoops events.

He has been a familiar face though for Phenom Hoops, whether it was in high school or AAU, we have continued to see this young man improve his game and become the player he is today. 'Fornes appreciates what Phenom has done for him, looking out for him as a player.

“They (Phenom Hoops) are really good and organized; good facilites they use and I certainly enjoy it,” he said. '”They really look out for the players individually.”

As far as his recruitment, it seems he is just taking it all in, as he doesn’t have anything planned in the near future. 'He might cut his list soon but still not sure. 'He is just preparing himself for the upcoming season and doesn’t have any time frame set for when he might make his decision.
