One of the main points for Phenom Hoops July tune-up events is for teams and players to get their names circulating back around for college coaches. Build some momentum in recruiting. In an earlier article we documented Today's 5 to Know, which are the events standouts. Rest assured, those players will see college coaches at most of their July games (or at least they should).

Phenom's Summer Grind snuck up and had a ton of talent on hand, as it does year after year. Here are more players that college coaches should pay close attention to in July. Each should see their offer list extended…

6'8' 2018 Anthony Flagler
Team Vision 17s

Flagler is a new name to the radar, as he is a newer player to the game. He did not play AAU in April, instead having to work to help out. He linked up with Team Vision for Phenom's Summer Grind and by all accounts it appears to be a great fit. Flagler has a 7'+ wing span to go with natural timing and incredible explosion/athleticism. He blocks a ton of shots and is able to slide his feet on the perimeter. Offensively, he has range beyond the arc to go along with some high flying rim running and great stuff in transition. Again, newer to the game but he makes breath taking natural plays.

5'11' 2019 Raishaun Brown
Team Vision 17s
Brown is a name that people around the region have known. He took his first step forward with a great performance at Phenom's Queen City Challenge against the likes of Team Charlotte and Team United. Brown displayed a ball on a string type handle and a great pace/quickness combo that kept him in the lane all day. Brown showed a consistent jump shot from range, but it was his ability to touch the paint regularly that really stood out. Offers may come in July, but expect to climb up many schools recruiting boards.

6'4' 2018 Darren Grainger
Team All or Nothing 17s

Last year Grainger was carrying a good summer into what was supposed to be his breakout junior year. Then he was in a car wreck that had him sit out for most of the season. When he did come back, in January he still was not 100%. Now he has played through April and June and his game is back to the level it was pre injury. Grainger has all the tools, with good length and athleticism. He handles the ball well in the half court and gets downhill quickly from the wing. Grainger has the tools to be a suffocating perimeter defender and showed consistency in the mid-range with numerous pull ups. Grainger carries an offer from Limestone and it will be very interesting to see who else jumps in the mix for him. One thing is for sure, more people will jump in the mix.

6'2' 2018 David Kasanganay
QCAA 17s

Kasanganay is the ultimate teammate, able to do a little bit of everything while being a leader on the team. While Kasanganay is able to do a lot he is not a good at everything, master of none type. Kasanganay is a high level defender, using his motor, long arms and quick twitch athleticism to pick up and stay in front of his man. Offensively, he is comfortable both on and off the ball depending on line up and match ups. He is a main catalyst for his QCAA team and we will be very eager to see where he recruitment is at, come the end of July. One thing is for sure, wherever he lands, he is the type of guy schools will have a hard time taking off the floor.

6'1' 2018 Jordan Roberson
High Point Havoc 17s

Shooters gonna shoot, and this one can really…really…really shoot it. Roberson has been lighting up the nets all year, however something is different about his game. This July he has some more pep in his step, he has more swag on the ball. Playing in the up-tempo, spread the floor style of the High Point Havoc team, Roberson handled the ball well in the half court. He exploded for over 20 points in each game he played and he also showed the ability to dunk in traffic. With this team, Roberson has explosive scoring ability and now that he is playing above the rim and handling the ball in the half court his recruitment could take a major jump. Watch closely in July, he will put up some massive scoring totals.
