The NCHSAA Brackets were released on Sunday night, which you can find here (Click Link). With the matchups released, it is always fun to take a look at a few intriguing battles that will be taking place in the first round of the playoffs. Here are a few we are looking at in the 4A.

Richmond vs. Butler
Richmond had a successful season, finishing 19-8 overall but came up short against Pinecrest.  Holding a 10-2 record at home, they will be going up against a Butler team that has one of the top sophomores in 7’0 Patrick Wessler.

Harding University vs. Porter Ridge
Porter Ridge knocked off Butler and then Hickory Ridge in the conference tournament before falling to Independence.  They look to bring that in against Harding who is looking to get back on track with their balanced scoring attack the helped lead to a 17-8 record this season.

Myers Park vs. Page
Page would love nothing more than to head to the 704 and knock off Myers Park.  Jaden Ellis, Jonathan Campbell, and others will have their work cut out for them against Xavier McKelvy and Drake Maye, who have turned heads this season and have been one of the top teams around the Charlotte area.

Green Hope vs. Sanderson
Fighting in a tough Triangle 8 Conference, Green Hope is led by a couple of juniors looking to make some noise.  Coming away with several close wins as of late, can they find a way to slow down Kamon and Tylan Green, who are averaging nearly 35 points per game combined for Sanderson.  Sanderson has been right there in some big games this season as well. With this being a 16 vs. 17 matchup, many could look at this game as a toss-up.

Riverside-Durham vs. Overhills
With five players averaging nearly 10 points per game, Riverside-Durham will look to use a balanced offensive attack.  But they go up against an Overhills program that has some intriguing guard play.  Between Lowery, Ford, and Davis, this is a team that knows how to shoot it from deep.
