The NCHSAA Brackets were released on Sunday night, which you can find here (Click Link). With the matchups released, it is always fun to take a look at a few intriguing battles that will be taking place in the first round of the playoffs. Here are a few we are looking at in the 3A.
Forestview vs. AL Brown
AL Brown comes in as the higher seed and is led by 2022 Kheni Briggs and company, but they shouldn’t look past Forestview, led by Logan Botts, who is averaging 29 points this season. Both teams know they can score and with these two gifted scorers, it could be an interesting one to watch.
TC Roberson vs. Dudley
A close matchup here to watch, TC Roberson comes in using a balanced attack with a bunch of juniors. More of a team effort, they average over 65 points per game and secured a 12-4 conference record. But they welcome in Dudley who started out the season really strong but struggled in conference play. Can they get back their magic in the playoffs'
West Rowan vs. Parkland
A 15 vs. 18 seed matchup, West Rowan will have their hands full. Rowan has the talent and will have the home crowd behind them, but they are going up against a team in Parkland that knows how to win big games. Parkland won their conference tournament, defeating Mount Tabor and Ben L. Smith.
Northern Nash vs. Vance County
Two programs that won over 19 games this season, they match up in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams average 66 points per game, with Northern Nash having seven players that average over seven points per game. The senior led Vance Co. will be looking to pull off the road win, led by Phadol Jordan, Thomas Towns, and Samein Burwell.
Cape Fear vs. East Wake
Cape Fear has a rising star in freshman Tremayne Parker, who leads the team with 16 points per game. Him alone is worth it, but they take on a East Wake team that is led by junior Javon Mercer, averaging 21 points, 9 rebounds per game.
