The talent was all over the place and at all levels. New names, old names, and fantastic battles highlighted Day 1 of the Phenom Queen City Showcase.

Scouts were around the baselines but here are a few names that caught the eyes of ours.

Kanye Nelson (5'8, 2023) – York County Legends

  • This is a young man that has that 'it' factor with his game. He handles the ball well, plays bigger than listed and can score inside and out. He displayed an ability to finish strong around the rim. Loved his ability to change speeds on the floor quickly and came up HUGE early on in the day to secure a tough victory. A young man that made plays in critical situations.

Kavaugh Spence (2023) – Flight 22

  • Speaking to others, this young man plays football and has the physical body to do so at a young age. Plays strong and physical on the floor.

Side Note: Keep an eye on Kewanis Wilmore for York County – he is a long springy type prospect that was tough on the defensive end blocking shots.

Callum Richard (6'8, 2023) – Team Loaded NC 14u

  • Richard is a long big that has old-time skills. He is active on the paint, understands how to seal his defenders and is a double-double type machine. He makes winning plays on both sides of the floor. Really enjoyed his high IQ play and his understanding on how to seal off defenders down low.

TJ Hardy (6'1, 2023) – Team Loaded NC 14u

  • Hardy brings a tough presence to his game and he plays hard on both ends of the floor. Enjoyed watching his handles on the floor and his decision-making.

Christian Foy (6'5, 2023) – Team Loaded NC 14u

  • Skinny, long prospect that plays comfortable inside and out. He uses that length to rebound well and creates plays.

Peyton Scott (6'2, 2023) – Team Loaded 14u

  • Skinny athletic prospect that has skills that could translate well if he continues to work hard. He showcased that he knows how to battle in the paint and is one to keep an eye on.
