Since Covid, recruiting has changed drastically. Accumulating a ton of offers is now really only possible for those in the national spotlight (albeit with a few exceptions). This is particularly unusual because numerous schools at every level are choosing to hoard scholarships, prioritize the transfer portal, and only look to pursue all-league players (which are few and far between). Previously, schools would take a chance on a prospect whom they genuinely believed in'and that concept is rapidly disappearing. Let's be honest, someone like Ja Morant's recruitment would've gone way differently had he graduated in 2023 instead of 2017. Either way, these kids deserve a fair chance to actually choose somewhere they want to go to college. While this ideal is applicable to a variety of kids in North Carolina, there's arguably no better example than Clash Peters.

The 6-foot-9 post prospect from Trinity Academy is probably as under-recruited as anyone, but it really doesn't make sense. He's strong, sturdy, and possesses an excellent combination of IQ, skill, and athleticism. Peters can post-up and finish over either shoulder, but also displays great footwork and the ability to consistently score on counters or advanced moves on the block. He handles and passes the ball very well for his size/position and will look to attack opposing bigs off the bounce whenever possible. Peters is capable of causing constant matchup problems with his mobility and inside-out skillset. He's extremely tough, active, and understands how to utilize his body on the glass–where he's proven to be a double-digit rebounding machine for quite a while. Add in his useful rim-protection ability, and there's no reason Peters shouldn't already hold a dozen Division I offers.

This season, he's averaging 14.6 PPG, 11.5 RPG, and 1.6 BPG with 44/42/50 shooting splits (and eleven double-doubles). Although the raw numbers are impressive enough, it's worth noting that Peters plays alongside three guys who also average double-digit scoring. Peters is an adaptable piece that can be used in a variety of different ways. He's quite dynamic for someone of his size and position, which only furthers the notion that his under-recruited status won't remain for much longer. Expect to see Peters blow up over the coming months, as he's certainly deserving of more attention as one of the top players in North Carolina's Class of 2024.
