#6:5'3 '22 Maria Savvun (Cary, NC)

Starting things off, we look at a player brought a positive attitude and excellent team-first approach to camp, Maria Savvun. She's a young point guard prospect that displayed solid scoring instincts, given her ability to finish inside and shoot from the perimeter. Savvun worked hard on defense, but can continue to improve her overall ability to get stops. She displayed nice quickness and should be able to improve defensively with added strength. Next in her development process is working on her ability to pass the ball, as it would make her a more complete floor general. Coach McArthur on Savvun: 'Maria is a good floor general. She handles the ball well and makes good decisions. Maria also has the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish around the rim.' Savvun showed quality upside during her time at camp and should be able to steadily progress over the coming years.

 

#16:5'5 '22 Jada Douthit (Wake Forest, NC)

Next, we look at a player that worked very hard on both sides of the ball during her time at camp, Jada Douthit. She's a young point guard prospect that plays with a strong amount of energy and does a great job of pursuing the ball from start to finish. Douthit is a pretty scrappy on-ball defender that showed the ability to force multiple turnovers on the day. Next in her development process is working on her ability to shoot from the midrange area, as it would make her a more impactful offensive player. Coach McArthur on Douthit: 'Jada sees the floor well. She has the ability to penetrate and find open teammates. She will need to work on her defense to balance out her game, but is a nice team player.' Douthit showcased a pretty solid skillset for her age and should be able to steadily progress over the next few years.

 

#24:5'6 '21 Ashley Woodfin (Raleigh, NC)

Moving onto a player that showcased her ability to coexist with any group of teammates, Ashley Woodfin. She's a guard prospect that offers quality energy and a strong scoring sense, able to shoot efficiently from the perimeter and take advantage of open pathways to the rim. Next in her development process is working on her ability to rebound the ball, as she possesses the necessary size to contribute in that area on both ends of the floor. Coach McArthur on Woodfin: 'Ashley has a solid three-point shot. She will need to continue working on her ball-handling and defense to balance out her game. She knows her limits and doesn't try to force the action or do too much. She's very coachable and has a great spirit for the team.' Woodfin is a pretty intriguing guard prospect, especially given her ability to shoot, and should be a prospect worth keeping an eye on going forward.

 

#33:5'7 '21 Montasia Jones (Fayetteville, NC)

Continuing onto a player that showcased the ability to consistently affect various facets of the game, Montasia Jones. She's a forward prospect that offers a balanced offensive approach, given her solid blend of shooting, penetrating, and playmaking. Jones rebounded really well on both sides of the ball and made numerous plays in transition during camp. Jones utilizes her size pretty well to absorb contact and finish strong around the basket. Next in her development process is working on her consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make her a more dynamic offensive threat. Coach McArthur on Jones: 'Montasia has a knack for the ball. She always seems to be in the right place at the right time. She rebounds well for her size and finishes nicely around the rim.' Jones is a pretty impactful two-way player and should be an intriguing prospect to watch grow over the coming years.

 

#40: 5'8 '20 Claire Burke (Fayetteville, NC)

Next, we look at a player that provided her team with an exceptional leadership presence throughout camp, Claire Burke. She's a guard prospect that showed flashes of dominance on both sides of the ball. Burke is a terrific playmaker with craftiness and an excellent IQ. She effortlessly creates for others, but also showed the ability to take advantage of scoring chances on all three levels. Burke was an overwhelming defender that forced an abundance of turnovers on the day. She utilized her motor very well and made great decisions in transition. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would allow her to become a craftier ball-handler and creator. Coach McArthur on Burke: 'Claire has a remarkable IQ. She will be a delight for any coach. The game simply comes easy to her and she's an absolute assassin on defense.' Burke was a leader throughout camp and should continue being a productive player over the next few seasons.

 

#47:5'8 '21 Mya Lewis (Greensboro, NC)

Moving onto a player that performed extremely well when operating from inside the arc, Mya Lewis. She's a forward/post prospect with a great combination of size and mobility, allowing her to cause havoc on both ends of the floor. Lewis made quite an impression as a rebounder; she pushed transition play and did a pretty strong job of securing and converting second chance opportunities. She possesses a lot of potential as a versatile defender and could be a problematic two-way force if she becomes quicker. Next in her development process is working on her ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter, as it would make him a more impactful offensive player. Coach McArthur on Lewis: 'Mya has the potential to be a great player. She's very coachable and plays with a strong motor on both ends of the floor.' Lewis displayed a lot of upside and useful tools at camp, so it'll be interesting to see how she develops going forward.

 

#52:5'10 '21 Ashara Hayes (Fayetteville, NC)

Continuing onto a player was able to seamlessly affect all facets of the game during her time at camp, Ashara Hayes. She's a forward prospect with an excellent combination of length and motor, making her an absolute nightmare for most opponents. Hayes altered and blocked shots, forced an abundance of turnovers, and led transition play with regularity. She's extremely productive and showed the ability to finish through contact at the rim. Next in her development process is working on her consistency as a perimeter shooter, as it would make her a truly dominant two-way player. Coach McArthur on Hayes: 'Ashara has great court vision. She is very unselfish and actively looks for her teammates. She's a great rebounder and communicator on the court. If she stays hungry, she will be an exciting player to watch.' Hayes was outstanding throughout camp and won the Ms. Hustle award in dominant fashion as a result.

 

#56:6'1 '20 Abbie Byrd (Clayton, NC)

Finishing up, we look at a player that was able to affect the game and highlight her long-term potential, Abbie Byrd. She's a wiry post prospect that displayed a nice feel for the game, both on the perimeter and interior. Byrd utilizes her length well to finish and alter shots around the basket. She provided great energy throughout camp and was willing to make hustle plays whenever possible. Next in her development process is continuing to add strength, as it would make her a more impactful interior presence on both ends of the floor. Coach McArthur on Byrd: 'Abbie has a nice three-point shot for her size, but should continue working on her ability to play with her back to the basket. Abbie is very coachable.' Byrd possesses a lot of useful tools and should be expected to emerge as a productive two-way leader for her high school team this upcoming season.
