Elijah Jamison scored 35 points last night in less than 3 quarters of playing time, that is the headline here and that is the take away from this piece. Sure we are going to go into a little bit of depth about how he did it and who it was against, but let’s take a second to focus on the 35 points in less than 24 minutes played.

Sure, the Oxford Prep team they went against were 9-20 last season, but the 1A school has started off this year at 4-3 coming into this game. Well, that didn’t matter to Jamison as he finished 15-23 from the field, 1-3 from 3 and 5-6 from the free-throw line, yes it was a totally dominant performance. Mind you, this is after Jamison’s 41 point outburst which saw him go 17-27 from the field and 2-4 from 3 in his first game of the year.

Of course, we know Jamison can score the ball, coming into this season, in 49 games as both a freshman and sophomore, Jamison had tallied 1,206 career points in only 49 games played. That is a 24.6 points per game on 48.9% shooting for his career. However, Jamison is so much more than just a bucket getter, he is an excellent rebounder and sees the floor as well. In last night’s game, he finished with 15 rebounds and 8 assists as well, which brings his averages to 11.5 points and 6.5 assists per game this year.

Jamison uses excellent body control to score a vast majority of his points. It is intriguing to see how this Louisburg team uses him as they line him up all over the floor. From possession to possession he lines up as the primary initiator, to the high post, to the low block and as a playmaking wing. He is able to score or attack from each of those positions as well. Jamison also does a great job of both turning defense into offense as well as rebounding and pushing.

Keep a close eye here, Jamison is on mark to continuously do impressive things. Playing in rural 1A Louisburg, it’s worth making the trip out to see.
