The Eagles at East Mecklenburg had a strong season last year in which they racked up 21 wins, led by a strong duo of Jordon Nevill and Jonah Lawrence, both of which averaged 20ppg.  However, those two are now gone, with Nevill graduating and playing college basketball and Lawrence now at Providence Day.

The Eagles though have been an interesting team to watch at the Hoop State Fall League, as new names look to carry on the success they had last year. When you look into the roster, this is a team that should bring balance to the floor but also have leaders who should step up to lead the way.

Talking about a few players that should step up and be the go-to leaders, you start with the senior guard in 2024 Bryson Heath. Heath is a quick and crafty guard who can make plays off the bounce, get by defenders with ease at times, facilitate and create, and also hurt you from behind the arc. He should be a steady presence with his experience on the court.

2026 Jordan Buzzard will be one to watch for sure, as he brings a unique skillset with his size, ability to step out and stretch the court, make plays off the bounce, and be a strong force down low and on the boards. He has a very good chance of making a bigger name for himself here in North Carolina and is one to watch. 2025 Ahmari Hicks will be another key piece that returns from last year; he is coming off a sophomore season in which he averaged 8ppg but should see an increased role and opportunity with this team. He works well in his ability to play off the ball, score from the perimeter, but also finish strong as well.

Overall, East Meck is one that will look a bit different this year, but they certainly have the talent to continue the winning ways from last year with the talent that will be on the court.
