Farmville Central has produced some incredible talent as of late and certainly will be names you will be hearing more at the collegiate level.  With the likes of Terquavion Smith, Justin Wright, and others, Farmville Central has had the talent that has helped them secure multiple state championships and it doesn't seem like the pipeline of talent is going to end any time soon.

Next up for them looks to be 2023 Jah Short, a 6'3 prospect that finished his sophomore season averaging 13.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. And now with Smith gone, Short looks to be the future star for the Jaguars. This could be a reason why East Carolina was eager to jump on him early with his first offer.

'It feels good that my first offer was a college from my hometown,' Short told Phenom Hoops.  'They contacted my coach and I talked to them over the phone.  It is a great school and close to home.'

But don't expect this to be the only time you hear about Short and his recruitment.  Many other programs should start becoming involved, especially with the expectations many have next season with the Jaguars.  As of right now though, Short mentioned that Vanderbilt and Liberty were two other schools showing interest.

What has been said about Short:

'He's a phenomenal leader that sets the tone on both ends of the floor. Short was a primary scoring option throughout the weekend, able to attack the basket whenever he desired while knocking down jumpers at a solid rate. He handles the ball well and has an unselfish approach, which allows him to create for others quite often. Short plays smart, under control, and understands how to make his presence felt in transition. There's already a lot to like about his game, so expect Short to continue developing into a two-way problem for the opposition.'

'Everyone knows about NC State commit Terquavion Smith, former floor general Justin Wright, and likely D2 superstar Samage Teel. However, with the latter duo departed for the collegiate ranks, Smith, Short, and Leontae Moye are left to keep the ship afloat. While Smith will likely dominate the scoring column on a nightly basis, don't be surprised to find Short leading in various other facets while still asserting himself as an efficient offensive weapon. Between his IQ, physical development, and blend of size, skill, and athleticism, the appeal should be fairly obvious. Add in his natural leadership and there's really nothing preventing Short from becoming a star in the very near future.' – Jeff Bendel
