This weekend was off the charts, as the 2nd Annual Phenom Winter Nationals brought a ton of young talent to the court that many will be hearing about in the coming years. We were eager to see how many of these young prospects had developed, as well as a few new names.
CP3 2028 is a team that is loaded with intriguing young talent that you will be hearing about in the coming years, but the one thing that stood out was the dynamic guard duo that was leading the charge. We broke down what we saw on the court this weekend between the two rising stars.
2028 Sherod McCormick
McCormick is a familiar name for many already, as we have had multiple opportunities to watch him in action during the high school season for Concord Academy. Much like he does for Concord, McCormick is one who thrives as a playmaker on the court. He continues to play at a high level, displaying IQ and feel, is skilled and understanding of the game, is a playmaker for himself and others, and shows the ability to be a threat from multiple levels on the court. He can be dynamic in making plays off the bounce, attacking and penetrating the defense, and finding ways to score over defenders. However, he can hurt you from the outside as well, scoring with extreme confidence.
2028 JJ Sati-Grier
Sati-Grier was another dynamic guard on the court that really impressed overall with his feel and development. This is a high IQ, crafty young guard who really shined when the ball was in his hands. His ability to be dynamic with his handles, making it look easy in his ability to dictate the offense and create to get by defenders, really shined on the big stage at the event. Sati-Grier was able to keep defenders guessing, make it look effortless in creating off the bounce, and displayed strong vision and court awareness in finding his teammates. Add on top of that his smooth feel to create off the bounce and get to his spots, Sati-Grier is a player I would keep an eye on.
