2018 Matthew Cornett
For South Decatur’s Matthew Cornett, he is having an outstanding junior season. He is averaging 21.1 PPG, 12.1 RPG, and 1.8 BPG. More importantly, he sports a terrific 3.4 GPA in the classroom. However, these statistics come to no surprise since we watched him at the 2nd Annual Indy Top 80 camp.
At the Indy Top 80 camp, we were impressed with his great attitude and his ability to play within a team setting. His work ethic was off the charts and was doing things that won’t show up in the box score. Matthew is an active screener and shot the ball extremely well for this size. He was highly efficient from the short corner and around the rim. However we were most impressed with the energy he brought each and every possession. He plays with a lot of passion and a high motor.
With his work ethic and passion for the game, it’s easy to understand the success he is having on the basketball court, especially since he is averaging a double double. In addition, Matthew understands the importance of academics and takes great pride in being a true student athlete.
