We continue to cover this past week’s Phenom high school team camp, as we had a great opportunity to get an early view of teams and what they may be bringing to the table this upcoming season.
This time, we dive into a storied program that has enjoyed tremendous success over the past several years, and they certainly won’t be a team to sleep on this upcoming season again. There is a lot to like about this team and the makeup they bring to court; they also have a tremendous coaching staff on the sideline that is incredibly knowledgeable.
When diving into the roster, you must start with their star guard that can absolutely fill it up. 2024 Grant Hamilton has really carved a name out for himself in the last year and continues to do so in a big way this summer. He can be absolutely deadly from all over the court; he isn’t just a weapon from behind the arc (though he can really change the game with his range) but he also is one that can make plays in a variety of other ways. Hamilton does a great job mixing it up with his jumper and his ability to create off the bounce. He is tremendous in putting on the deck and making plays, finding others, or just always being active on the floor. We certainly expect him once again to have a big year here in North Carolina.
Then you have players that are looking for the opportunity to step up even more. One player that I believe could be a breakout-type player is 2025 KJ Younger, a prospect we have talked about countless times before. He is strong, physical, and gets downhill well; he simply knows how to fill it up or get to the line consistently. Then you have 2024 Jack Ellyson, 2024 Aidan Cook, 2025 Mason Zepp, and 2026 Jake Ford who all have a tremendous opportunity to really carve out a bigger role with this team and will be counted on doing so.
